Initial Home Visit

Prior to your initial visit, Dr. Karen will review your pet’s records from your veterinarian(s) so she is aware of any pertinent medical history. When she arrives, she will be able to observe your dog or cat in his or her natural environment, which allows for a unique perspective on their comfort level and mobility. She will assess any information about your pet’s history that you think is important and hear your thoughts on your pet’s comfort level and challenges at home. She will do a physical exam within the comfort level of your pet.

You and Dr. Karen will then discuss if acupuncture may help your pet's symptoms. If you decide to proceed with treatment, and your pet is comfortable with the small needles, an acupuncture session is included in the initial visit. The acupuncture session can last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, and you will be staying with your pet the entire time.

Additional Home Acupuncture Sessions

Depending on the severity and chronicity of your pet's condition, we usually recommend starting with treatments every 1-2 weeks initially, then decreasing in frequency based on his or her response to treatment. Many chronic conditions such as arthritis benefit from ongoing long-term treatment every 2-4 weeks or as needed.

Complimentary
15 Minute Virtual Visit

This is an optional one-time zoom consultation with Dr. Karen for new clients only. This will give you an opportunity to ask any questions about acupuncture and whether it may be helpful for your pet. Unlike a home visit, this does not include a review of your pet's medical records and does not involve any diagnosis or discussion of other treatment options. Please read the FAQ section before your virtual visit to maximize the time you have with Dr. Karen.
